
Applications are now open for the 2026 MILEAD Fellows Program, a leadership development initiative for exceptional young African women committed to advancing transformative change across the continent.
For over a decade, the MILEAD Program, an initiative of Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa, has identified and nurtured promising female leaders, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, networks, and mentorship necessary to thrive in leadership roles. The 2026 cohort will select 25 outstanding young women who have demonstrated leadership potential within their communities, organisations, or professions.
The program is designed as a year-long leadership journey anchored by an intensive three-week residential Summer Institute in Ghana.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
- Be young African women aged 19–25
- Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to community impact
- Be passionate about addressing issues affecting women and girls in Africa
- Be available to participate in the three-week residential Summer Institute
- Be willing to implement a community change initiative during the fellowship
Applicants may be full-time students or professionals during the program, except during the Summer Institute.
Program Structure:
- A three-week residential Summer Institute in Ghana
- Experiential leadership training and skills development
- Structured mentorship from seasoned African leaders
- Long-term engagement within the MILEAD Network
- Implementation of a MiCHANGE community project addressing a critical issue impacting women or local communities
