
Applications are open for the IGNITE Challenge 4.0, an acceleration programme supporting startups and SMEs developing innovative solutions to strengthen food systems and create jobs in Rwanda.
The programme, by Impact Hub Kigali in patnership with the World Food Programme, targets commercially viable ventures working across the agrifood value chain, with a strong focus on solutions that improve livelihoods and expand economic opportunities, particularly for young women and youth-led enterprises.
Selected ventures will receive technical support, investment readiness training, ecosystem exposure, and equity-free funding of up to $24,000 to scale their solutions.
Programme Benefits
Participating ventures will receive:
- Up to $24,000 in equity-free funding
- Five months of tailored acceleration support
- One-on-one coaching and mentorship
- Business diagnostics and scaling plan development
- Thematic masterclasses and technical assistance
- Investment readiness support and pitch preparation
- Participation in a Demo Day with investors and ecosystem stakeholders
- Networking opportunities and market linkages
- Collaboration opportunities with Farmer Service Centres (FSCs)
Who Can Apply

- Startups
- Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
- Cooperatives
Applicants must be building solutions that strengthen food systems and contribute to job creation and economic inclusion.
Youth-led businesses and ventures led by young women under 35 are strongly encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a legally registered business operating for at least two years in Rwanda
- Demonstrate market traction and revenue generation
- Have a team of at least three full-time members
- Have at least 50% of founders or senior management from Rwanda or East Africa
- Maintain active operations in Rwanda
- Be available to participate in programme activities and mentorship initiatives
Programme Structure
- The IGNITE Challenge includes a pre-acceleration phase, featuring a three-day bootcamp and pitch sessions to shortlist ventures, followed by due diligence and proposal development.
- Up to six ventures will then be selected for the full acceleration phase, which includes funding, technical assistance, mentorship, and ecosystem engagement.
- The programme concludes with a Demo Day event aimed at boosting investor visibility and partnership opportunities.
