The Swiss Re Foundation is accepting applications for the 2027 Entrepreneurs for Resilience programme, targeting social enterprises improving access to primary healthcare for low-income communities in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
For the 2027 round, the Foundation is particularly seeking organisations whose primary focus is expanding access to primary healthcare through models that combine physical points of care with a digital enabling layer. The programme offers grant and blended financing alongside technical assistance and connections to healthcare and investment networks.
What the Programme Offers
A total of $360,000 in grants will be divided equally among six to eight candidates selected following due diligence.
Up to $1 million in blended funding, combining conditional and unconditional financing, will then be shared among selected finalists over a two-year implementation period.
Selected enterprises can also receive technical assistance in impact measurement and management. The three to four finalists will receive up to 20 days of structured technical assistance over two years and gain access to a peer network focused on inclusive healthcare.
Potential follow-on funding may also be available from the Philips Foundation or Sanofi Impact Fund.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must operate in a World Bank-defined low- or middle-income country and use a market-based model with potential to grow through earned revenue.
Eligible enterprises must also:
- Primarily improve access to primary healthcare for low-income populations
- Combine physical points of care with a digital enabling layer
- Generate measurable social impact
- Serve a customer base in which at least 30% are low-income
- Have been established by 2023
- Currently serve at least 50,000 people
- Demonstrate potential to reach 100,000 people within two years
- Have a strong management team with clearly defined responsibilities
