Applications are open for the FINCA Ventures Prize 2026, a competitive funding opportunity supporting early-stage African startups building impactful solutions in financial inclusion and sustainable agriculture.
The prize, hosted annually by FINCA Ventures, brings together high-potential entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem leaders in a “shark tank”-style competition, where selected founders pitch their ventures for grant funding of up to $100,000.
The programme is designed to identify and support startups with strong potential to improve the lives of low-income and underserved communities across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The competition targets startups operating in two key sectors:
- Fintech for Financial Inclusion – solutions expanding access to financial services, digital banking, credit, insurance, and financial literacy
- Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems – innovations strengthening agrifood value chains, improving farmer productivity, and enhancing climate resilience
Programme Benefits
Selected startups will receive:
- Up to $100,000 in grant funding (based on final ranking)
- Opportunity to pitch at a live finals event in San Francisco
- Fully funded travel to attend the final pitch event
- Exposure to investors, donors, and global ecosystem stakeholders
- Access to technical support and tailored workshops
