For five days starting Monday, 21 July 2025, Menterprise Africa will publish five excerpts of a 150-page book by Ugandan entrepreneur and engineering specialist Joel Jaffer Aita. The book is titled “An Entrepreneur’s Mind.”

Eng. Aita, who turned 45 on April 9, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Joadah Consult, a fast-growing pan-African company with business and investment interests in construction, technology, sports, and agriculture. He is also the Chairman of Development Infrastructure, Joadah Consult Institute and the Muni University Council.

Within Uganda, some of the projects that Eng. Aita has overseen through his companies include the design, review and construction supervision of the $250 million Namanve Industrial Park Project funded by UK Export Finance (UKEF); the feasibility study, design and construction supervision of the $50 million Mulago Hospital Rehabilitation Project funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), and the design, review and construction supervision of the Mulago Maternal and Neonatal Hospital Project, funded to the tune of $30m by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

Eng. Aita has also served as project coordinator for the $21m Yumbe Hospital construction project (Uganda), the $20 million Kayunga Hospital construction project (Uganda), the $30m the Malawi High Education Science and Technology Project, and the $35m Rwanda Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project, as well as team leader for the $15m Tower Hill Estates in Monrovia (Liberia).

According to Eng. Aita, the purpose of writing the book, which he dedicates “to all entrepreneurs, especially the young and upcoming,” is to empower them with “a wide-open look into the possibilities of business success.”

“What you are today is not important! In this book, you will learn how to change your life by applying 10 years of the author’s life lessons as a successful entrepreneur,” notes Eng. Aita, who adds that his business experience offers optimism about investing in Africa in an innovative way.

Published by Joadah Books, another of Eng. Aita’s companies, the book consists of eleven (11) chapters. They include an introduction that chronicles his life as a young entrepreneur, insights and lessons from his life that he dispenses to aspiring entrepreneurs, a section on youth mentorship, why and how to become an entrepreneur, and how to develop partnerships and grow businesses

Many readers will particularly be fascinated by Eng. Aita’s tips on how to push your start-up ahead of the crowd, the risks he took while building his businesses, his list of nine things that successful entrepreneurs must always do, and what entrepreneurs should seek to benefit from their mentors.

“To be successful in your entrepreneurial dreams, you have to be able to learn from others. The best way to learn the skills of a successful business owner is to study the skills of successful entrepreneurs and then amplify those skills for yourself. If you want to fly like an eagle, you cannot hang out with ducks,” he notes.

Eng. Aita has recently expanded his multi-million-dollar business footprint beyond Uganda, including to DR Congo, Rwanda, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Ghana and Liberia, among others. The Arua-born businessman’s book traces his entrepreneurial roots and experiences vividly, and, to his credit, he is willing to share nuggets of wisdom that any keen innovator or entrepreneur in Uganda or anywhere in Africa can learn immensely from.
