Early-stage health entrepreneurs looking to sharpen how they communicate their ventures can register for the Building a Winning Pitch Masterclass, a virtual session organised by the Health Innovation Hub (H2i) at the University of Toronto.
Taking place on October 9, 2026, the one-hour session forms part of the Pitch Perfect Africa 2026 event series and is open to early-stage health entrepreneurs beyond the ventures competing in the pitch competition.
What the Masterclass Will Cover
The session will be led by Professor Paul Santerre and focus on the 10 key elements of a strong venture pitch.
Participants will examine how to communicate fundamental aspects of their businesses, including:
Problem and solution | Value proposition | Market | Competition | Milestones | Team
The emphasis is not simply on producing a presentation, but on developing a venture story that can be communicated clearly to customers, experts, partners, judges and investors.
Who Should Attend?
The masterclass is designed for early-stage health entrepreneurs seeking to improve their pitching and venture communication skills.
Importantly, participation in the masterclass is not restricted to applicants or finalists in the Pitch Perfect Africa competition. H2i states that the session is open to all.
The broader Pitch Perfect Africa 2026 programme supports entrepreneurs developing health-focused innovations across Africa and is implemented by H2i under the Africa Health Collaborative in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. The separate pitch competition has narrower eligibility requirements and offers three CAD $5,000 Innovation Fellowships.
