African science and technology ventures working in health, climate, and frontier technology can now apply for the Open Startup International (OST) Acceleration Programme 2026, a pan-African venture platform offering structured acceleration and early-stage investment to startups at two distinct stages of growth. Selected startups may be considered for investment tickets ranging from USD 20,000 to USD 50,000.
About the Programme
Open Startup International has spent a decade building infrastructure for African tech ventures — connecting founders with expert networks, hands-on mentorship, and capital pathways. The 2026 programme consolidates its offerings into two tracks designed to meet startups where they are: one for teams still building and validating, and one for those ready to accelerate traction and expand. Both tracks are hybrid, combining structured training with global exposure and personalised support. A 1% give-back mechanism, implemented via a SWEAT SAFE note, is reinvested into the broader ecosystem.
Who Can Apply
OST accepts applications from ventures incorporated in an African country and operating primarily on the continent. Additional requirements include:
- A committed founding team available to participate actively throughout the programme
- Demonstrated English proficiency
- Operations within OST’s priority sectors — Climate and Sustainability, Health and Well-being, or AI and Emerging Technologies — though high-impact ventures in other sectors are also considered
The Two Tracks
Pre-Seed Track (6 months): Designed for early-stage ventures still building and validating their core solution. Teams receive tailored training, mentorship, and expert guidance as they develop their product and test their assumptions.
Seed Track (12 months): For startups that have moved past validation and are ready to accelerate growth. The longer programme supports expansion, traction-building, and positioning for investment.
