The 2027 MORE HEALTH for Africa Program is inviting applications from post-revenue social enterprises developing solutions that expand access to healthcare across Africa.
A partnership between Boehringer Ingelheim and Villgro Africa, the programme combines incubation, business support and catalytic funding to help high-impact healthcare enterprises strengthen their operations, attract investment and scale their impact.
What the Program Offers
Selected enterprises will receive support through a 12-month programme divided into two phases:
Business Foundations – 6 months
The first phase focuses on strengthening the internal foundations of participating enterprises. Support includes:
- Business model development and refinement
- Team and organisational strengthening
- Governance support
- Coaching and masterclasses
- Tailored grants to address priority business needs
Business Growth – 6 months
The second phase focuses on preparing enterprises for growth and external engagement. Participants will receive:
- Advanced mentorship
- Investor connections
- Research vouchers
- Market access support
- Investment-readiness support
- Fundraising support
- Global networking opportunities
Funding and Other Benefits
Selected enterprises can receive:
- Catalytic funding of up to €80,000
- Tailored business support
- Connections to potential investors and strategic partners
- Capacity-building through masterclasses and diagnostic panels
- Research support
- Opportunities for global exposure, including participation in the annual Making More Health Together (MMHT) convention in Germany and an event in Africa
- Peer learning and connections with founders from current and previous Villgro Africa cohorts
Who Can Apply?
The programme is looking for ambitious, post-revenue social enterprises operating in Africa that are working to improve healthcare access and outcomes for underserved communities.
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Strong revenue traction, with annual revenues of around US$300,000
- Demonstrated impact, having reached approximately 100,000 people
- A dedicated team
- A clear growth strategy
- Potential to raise US$1 million or more within the next year
- A solution that contributes to improving healthcare access and impact in Africa
The programme is intended for enterprises that have moved beyond the early idea stage and have demonstrated both commercial traction and social impact.
