The nominations portal for the 2027 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering (QEPrize) is now open — and engineers, institutions, and members of the public from anywhere in the world are invited to nominate individuals responsible for groundbreaking engineering innovations of global benefit to humanity.

Carrying a prize of £500,000, the QEPrize is the world’s most prestigious engineering accolade. Since its establishment in 2013, the prize has honoured 42 eminent engineers whose innovations have collectively affected billions of lives across the globe.

The QEPrize celebrates engineering innovation that has delivered substantial, lasting change to the world. The 2027 prize will be awarded to up to 10 engineers personally responsible for a bold, groundbreaking innovation in engineering with demonstrated global impact.

Nominations Checklist

Before submitting, confirm the following:

  • The innovation has clear and demonstrable global impact
  • You can identify up to 10 engineers personally responsible for the innovation
  • You have sufficient information to write a compelling nomination case
  • You can identify at least 3 referees familiar enough with the innovation to submit supporting statements

Self-nominations and posthumous nominations are not accepted.

Who Can Be Nominated:

  • Any living individual or group of up to 10 individuals of any nationality
  • Engineers personally responsible for a groundbreaking innovation in engineering
  • Innovations that have delivered measurable, lasting benefit to humanity across any engineering sector
