This month, doors are open for health-tech startups seeking their first investment, agripreneurs competing for continental recognition, researchers whose work deserves more than a journal, and social entrepreneurs ready to take their ventures to the next level.

The D-Prize Global Competition 2026 funds first-time entrepreneurs launching new ventures that distribute proven, evidence-based poverty interventions. Who Can Apply:

  • First-time entrepreneurs who have not yet launched or raised significant outside funding

  • Existing organisations considered only if their core focus is distributing a proven poverty intervention

What Winners Receive:

Game Entrepreneurship Webinar — UNDP ICPSD COSE Digital Meetup Series [June 9, 2026]

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)‘s Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) is hosting the fifth session of its COSE Digital Meetup Series, focused on game entrepreneurship. The session brings together unicorn founders, investors, ecosystem builders, and government representatives to discuss how aspiring entrepreneurs can build, launch, and scale game ventures in regional and global markets.

LEAP Africa Social Innovators Programme (SIP) 2026 — 9-Month Fellowship for Young African Social Entrepreneurs [Deadline: June 12]

The Social Innovators Programme (SIP) 2026 by LEAP Africa is a 9-month accelerator fellowship for early-stage social enterprises ready to grow their impact. Now in its thirteenth year, the programme has a strong track record of supporting founders across agriculture, technology, climate action, clean energy, sustainable cities, and workforce development.

Who Can Apply:

  • Young Africans aged 18 to 35 who are citizens or permanent residents of an African nation
  • Founders or co-founders of a social venture with at least three years of impact
  • First-time SIP applicants who can commit fully to the programme period

What Fellows Receive:

  • Intensive virtual training followed by four months of one-on-one mentorship and coaching
  • Monthly webinars, networking calls, and site visits
  • A physical Awards ceremony with access to investors, funders, and policymakers
  • Funding opportunities and visibility for their social enterprises

IGAD Free Digital Trade Training for Women and Youth Entrepreneurs Across IGAD Member States [Deadline: June 13]

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is inviting women and youth-led Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across its Member States to apply for a free In-Country Training and Mentorship Programme on Gender-Sensitive Digital Trade. Delivered under the Horn of Africa Digital Market Integration (HDMI) Project – Phase I, the programme combines three-day in-person national workshops with ongoing online mentorship sessions, running from July to December 2026 across seven countries.

What Participants Will Learn:

  • Digital financial services, including mobile money platforms
  • E-commerce and online business opportunities
  • Digital marketing and online business growth strategies
  • Business management and financial literacy
  • Online safety and secure participation in digital spaces
  • How to access regional and international markets, including under the AfCFTA

Training Schedule:

  • July — Djibouti and Somalia
  • September — Ethiopia
  • October — South Sudan and Sudan
  • November — Uganda
  • December — Kenya

Who Can Apply:

  • Women and youth entrepreneurs actively running an MSME, with priority given to women
  • Holders of a valid business license
  • Applicants with a demonstrated interest in digital trade or growing their business through digital platforms
  • Those able to commit to the full three-day in-person training and follow-up online mentorship

Global Citizen Waislitz Awards 2026 — $300,000 in Prizes for Individuals Fighting Extreme Poverty [Deadline: June 14]

Now in its twelfth year, the Global Citizen Waislitz Awards — presented by the Waislitz Foundation and Global Citizen — offer a total of $300,000 across three prizes of $100,000 each, celebrating excellence, innovation, and measurable impact in the fight against extreme poverty. The awards recognise individuals and organisational representatives whose work disrupts the systems that allow extreme poverty to persist.

The Three Awards:

  • Global Citizen Waislitz Prize — $100,000 Awarded to the winner demonstrating excellence across all evaluation criteria.
  • Disruptor Award — $100,000 For the applicant creating measurable impact through innovative, system-challenging approaches.
  • Global Citizens’ Choice Award — $100,000 Selected by the Global Citizen community through online voting.

Who Can Apply:

  • Individuals aged 18 and above from anywhere in the world
  • Individual representatives of organisations working to end extreme poverty
  • Applicants with at least one to two years of demonstrated impact

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Global citizenship values and practices
  • Proof of concept with at least 1–2 years of measurable impact
  • Disruption of poverty-sustaining systems through innovative approaches

Africa Health-Tech Accelerator 2026 — 6-Month Pan-African Programme for Early-Stage Health Technology Startups [Deadline: June 14]

Co-hosted by the Africa CDC and Africa Health ExCon, this six-month programme takes early-stage health-tech startups from concept validation to investor readiness. Innovation areas include telemedicine, artificial intelligence in healthcare, medical devices and diagnostics, health financing technologies, and preventive health solutions. The programme culminates in a Demo Day where founders pitch before investors, policymakers, and industry leaders across the continent.

Who Can Apply:

  • Health-tech startups with at least an MVP and a minimum of two founders
  • Founders operating in Africa and committed to scaling continentally
  • Able to commit to attending at least 80% of programme sessions

What Selected Startups Receive:

  • Six months of structured online training and one-on-one mentorship
  • Seed funding to support early-stage growth
  • Investor and network access across the continent
  • Pitching exposure at the Final Demo Day

Bank of Uganda @60 Hackathon 2026 — Win Up to UGX 15 Million [Deadline: June 15]

Organised as part of Bank of Uganda‘s 60th anniversary celebrations, the BOU@60 Hackathon invites students from registered institutions across Uganda to develop practical, technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges. The competition offers an opportunity for young innovators to showcase their technical skills, collaborate with peers, and contribute ideas that could shape the future of Uganda’s digital economy.

Who Can Apply:

  • Students from registered Ugandan institutions with backgrounds in software development, technology, and innovation

Prize Awards:

  • Winner: UGX 15 million
  • 1st Runners-up: UGX 12 million
  • 2nd Runners-up: UGX 8 million

Asharami M.A.D Equation 2026 — Up to $25,000 for Applied Energy Research in Africa [Deadline: June 20]

Launched by Sahara Group to mark its 30th anniversary, the M.A.D (Making A Difference) Equation is a competitive award for advanced-stage applied research addressing operational challenges in Sahara’s exploration, production, and power businesses. This is not an open research grant — it is a structured competition evaluated on originality, implementation potential, and real-world impact. Selected innovators gain access to cash awards, mentorship, technical support, and pathways toward real integration into Sahara’s operations.

Research themes cover upstream flowstation digitalisation, predictive maintenance for rotating equipment, heavy oil flow assurance, ageing thermal asset reliability, and improving network stability in power distribution systems.

Who Can Apply:

  • Innovators from within Africa whose research aligns with the defined themes
  • Postgraduate researchers at MSc and PhD level and beyond

Awards:

  • First Prize: $25,000
  • Second Prize: $15,000
  • Third Prize: $10,000

Spaces of Culture 2026 — Up to €50,000 for Africa-Europe Cultural Relations Projects in Sub-Saharan Africa [Deadline: June 21]

The Spaces of Culture 2026 Call for Proposals, part of the EU-funded Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture programme and implemented by EUNIC, supports innovative, co-created cultural relations projects across Sub-Saharan Africa. The call offers up to €50,000 per project for triangular partnerships bringing together African civil society organisations, European cultural institutes, and EU Delegations on equal footing. Projects run from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.

Thematic Areas: Arts, creative industries, digitalisation, education, gender, heritage, human rights, social inclusion, sports, sustainability, tourism, youth, and more.

Who Can Apply: Projects must be co-developed by a triangular partnership including:

  • At least three key local cultural or civil society partners from the country of implementation
  • At least three full EUNIC members — or two where no EUNIC cluster is present
  • Involvement of an EU Delegation

What Strong Projects Demonstrate:

  • Co-development and co-implementation by all partners
  • Relevance to locally urgent topics and challenges
  • Innovation within the local context
  • Concrete contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering 2027 — Nominate a Groundbreaking Engineer for £500,000 [Deadline: June 26]

The nominations portal for the 2027 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering (QEPrize) — the world’s most prestigious engineering accolade — is now open. The prize awards £500,000 to up to 10 engineers responsible for a bold, groundbreaking engineering innovation of global benefit to humanity. Since 2013, the prize has honoured 42 engineers whose innovations have collectively affected billions of lives. Previous winning innovations include the Internet, GPS, LED lighting, machine learning, and modern neural interfaces.

Anyone from anywhere in the world can submit a nomination.

Before Nominating, Confirm:

  • The innovation has clear and demonstrable global impact
  • You can identify up to 10 engineers personally responsible
  • You have sufficient information to build a compelling nomination case
  • You can identify at least 3 referees familiar with the innovation

Self-nominations and posthumous nominations are not accepted.

GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition 2026 — $160,000 in Prizes for Africa’s Young Food Innovators [Deadline: June 28]

The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition 2026 by Generation Africa and AGRA is Africa’s leading prize for youth-led agribusiness innovation — rewarding the boldest African agripreneurs with funding, mentorship, and global visibility. The competition offers two Grand Prizes of $50,000 each and four Impact Awards of $15,000 each, with the Grand Finale taking place as a live pitch at the Africa Food Systems Forum in Kigali, Rwanda in September 2026.

Prize Breakdown:

Grand Prizes — $100,000 total $50,000 for the most promising male-led business | $50,000 for the most promising female-led business

Impact Awards — $60,000 total $15,000 each for businesses excelling in Technology & Innovation, Nutrition & Food Security, Job Creation, and Climate Resilience & Gender Equity

Who Can Apply:

  • Aged 18 to 35 with nationality from an African Union member state
  • Founder or co-founder playing an active leadership role
  • Venture headquartered and registered in an AU member state — or to be registered by June 28, 2026

UNDP Uganda Innovation Challenge 2026 — Up to $10,000 for Circular Economy and Waste Management Solutions [Deadline: June 30]

The UNDP Uganda Innovation Challenge 2026, implemented under the programme Promoting Circular Economy and Waste Management in Cities, offers a total prize pool of USD $40,000 — with up to four winners each receiving $10,000 to pilot or develop scalable waste management and circular economy solutions across Ugandan cities. This is a prize competition, not a grant — the best ideas win cash with no repayment required.

Solutions must address challenges in one or more of the seven pilot municipalities: Jinja, Mbale, Gulu, Arua, Hoima, Mbarara, or Kampala.

Who Can Apply:

  • Any legally registered entity including women’s groups, youth-led organisations, CBOs, NGOs, cooperatives, academic institutions, and private companies
  • Solutions must be at prototype, MVP, or pilot-ready stage

  • Waste collection efficiency and digital tracking
  • Recycling, upcycling, and resource recovery

  • Behavioural change campaigns with measurable results

  • Total pool: $40,000 | Up to 4 winners at $10,000 each
  • 70% disbursed on signing | 30% on final report approval
  • Winners must implement within 6 months of award

Women in Tech Accelerator 2026 — Grants and Growth Support for Women-Led Tech Startups [Deadline: June 30]

The Women in Tech Accelerator 2026 by the Standard Chartered Foundation, delivered in partnership with Village Capital, supports impact-driven, tech-enabled, women-led startups across 12 markets in Africa, the Middle East, and Pakistan. In 2026, more than USD $600,000 in grants will be distributed across participating markets. The 2025 cohort reached nearly 16,000 new customers, created over 430 jobs, and grew revenues by $2.7 million — setting a strong benchmark for what this programme delivers.

Who Should Apply: Women leading impact-creating, tech-enabled startups operating in: Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, or Pakistan.

What Selected Startups Receive:

  • A share of over USD $600,000 in grant funding distributed across markets
  • Personalised development plans tailored to each entrepreneur’s growth needs
  • Investment-readiness training to refine business models and growth strategies

develoPPP Ventures 2026 — Catalytic Funding for Impact-Driven Startups in Africa [Deadline: June 30]

The develoPPP Ventures 2026 call offers catalytic co-financing for innovative, impact-driven startups operating in or expanding into Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, or Tanzania. Implemented by DEG Impulse gGmbH and GIZ, the programme backs privately owned, profit-oriented startups with proven business models contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Who Can Apply:

  • Startups registered — or planning to register — in a target country
  • Already generating initial revenues with proof of concept
  • Privately owned, profit-oriented, and contributing to the SDGs

Current Target Countries: Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, and Tanzania

Global Good Fund Fellowship 2027 — 12-Month Leadership Fellowship for Social Impact Entrepreneurs [Deadline: June 30]

The Global Good Fund Fellowship is a selective 12-month hybrid programme investing in the leadership development of founders and senior leaders at social impact organisations worldwide. It brings together a global community of purpose-driven leaders united by a commitment to social change and a readiness to be coached and challenged.

Who Can Apply:

  • Founders and senior leaders — CEO, COO, CTO, CFO, Co-Founder, or Executive Director — of for-profit or non-profit social enterprises
  • The enterprise must have been operational for at least two years with a minimum of two full-time paid employees
  • The candidate must hold a primary decision-making role and be fully committed to running the enterprise

What Fellows Receive:

  • Personalised mentorship and executive coaching
  • Access to a global network of social impact leaders and peers
  • 12 months of structured leadership development through a hybrid programme
